This day trip will get you to one of the most impressive crater lakes in the North-West Region: Lake Oku. Situated close to the village of Oku as well as the biggest mountain in the area, Mount Oku, this lake is a perfect place to enjoy nature as well as beautiful surroundings in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. After a long journey to the lake, you can either jump into the lake and enjoy a swim in the clear and refreshing water of the lake or go for a little walk in the Kilum forest to see some of the endemic animals and plants. If you are lucky you might even see frog specie that only lives in this area. RUDEC/Cameroon Tourist welcome you on this unforgettable journey!

The journey to the lake starts around 8am on a motorbike. The bike ride to the junction of the lake will take about an hour, passing small villages and going mainly uphill. From the junction, the lake can already be seen in the distance. Now you will trek down little paths through the forest to get closer to it. The Kilum-Ijim Forest is a protected area and is state property. Here you can find a huge variety of flora and fauna and especially if you like bird watching this will be the perfect place for you around Belo. The trek down through the forest will take between 1 and 2 hours before you get to a place where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery with the view on the lake, the nearby hills and the surrounding forest. If you want, you can even swim in the lake and relax your muscles after the long journey.
This place will also be our lunch point where you can have some fresh fruits, drinks, bread and biscuits. At the latest, we will start walking back to Belo at 2pm. If you don’t want to walk all the way back, you can take a motorbike back home from the lake. In order to reach your hotel in Belo, the walk would take around 4 hours. It is mainly downhill and you will pass larger parts of the forest, farms of local people, the Aboh Hills and finally bigger settlements like Aboh or Acha. In the late afternoon, you will reach Belo and your hotel.
